Yes, you can make a delicious easy glaze for your cakes of all kinds with granulated sugar here is the master recipe...

1 cup granulated sugar,
1/2 cup water,
2 Tablespoons butter combine and cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved cool slightly then pour gently over your cake you can add any flavoring you like I have also made this with the juice of 2 oranges( in place of the water)

1 Tablespoons orange rind and 1 cup sugar

wonderful on spice, pumpkin or carrot cakes
