Sherry CakeLooking for a great cake recipe? You are going to love this Sherry cake!Ingredients: 6 to 8 cake slices, pound cake, sponge or any plain cake. 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup water 4 whole cloves 1/2 cup sherry Peach segments Method : Start with boiling water, cloves and sugar together for about 5 minutes. Let it cool and then add 1/2 cup sherry. On a large round platter arrange cake slices like flower petals, leaving about 3 inch diameter hole in the center and their ends meeting toward the center of the plater. Between cake slices arrange long segments of peaches. All it can be done while syrup is cooling. Heat the yolks slightly and then pour just a little syrup over them and stir. Empty into remaining syrup and stir over medium heat until mixture coats a spoon, takes about 5 minutes. Pour over the cake and peach segments. Garnish as desired. It can be served either hot or cold. |
